Ariana Grande's Thank U, Next Music Video Still Isn't Here — But a Mean Girls Style Trailer Is!

27/11/2018 - 03:40 PM

Ariana Grande [1] really is determined to turn the release of the music video for "Thank U, Next" into a major pop culture event . . . and it's working. The singer has been teasing us for the past couple of weeks with images from behind the scenes [2], revealing that the video will pay homage to a quartet of classic chick flicks: Mean Girls [3], 13 Going on 30 [4], Bring It On [5], and Legally Blonde. We've already seen her playing Elle Woods (and Reese Witherspoon shared her support [6]), and Gabrielle Union [7] and Eliza Dushku both had nothing but love for her Bring It On cheerleading uniforms, but the best is yet to come in this brand new Mean Girls-themed trailer, which features some recognisable faces.

The video re-creates the famous moment in the movie when people from Cady's school speak to the camera about Regina George [8], except this time, they're gossiping about Grande. Colleen Ballinger, Troye Sivan, and Gabi DeMartino all have their moment of fame, but for fans of the 2004 movie, the really fun moments include cast members like Jonathan Bennett, aka Aaron Samuels. While we wait for Grande to finally reveal the video in full, enjoy your latest sneak peek now, and keep reading for a reminder of all the Mean Girls teasers we've seen so far.
