Ariana Grande [1]'s First Wives Club-inspired performance [2] of "Thank U, Next" was only the beginning of her empowering movie tributes. Since releasing the uplifting breakup anthem [3] earlier this month, Grande's "Thank U, Next" has become a staple in all of our playlists [4]. Now, she's teasing photos from what appears to be the song's music video, and it has Legally Blonde [5] written all over it. Not only does she pose on the elliptical with her tangerine iBook just like Elle Woods, but she even shared a photo with actress Jennifer Coolidge, who plays Paulette in the film.
Legally Blonde might start off as a movie about a woman chasing after the man who broke up with her, but it turns into an insightful feminist story about being able to do anything you put your mind to [6]. Just like the lyrics in "Thank U, Next," [7] it's about growing from the past and becoming stronger from it. Holland Taylor's character said it best: "If you're going to let one stupid prick ruin your life, then you're not the girl I thought you were," and that's the exact attitude Grande has embraced in real life [8]. In the song, Grande's version of Warner Huntington III are her exes Big Sean, Ricky Alvarez, and Pete Davidson, who she name drops in the lyrics [9].
While Grande has not specified if these photos are for an upcoming music video, she did made sure to tag Alfredo Flores [10] and Hannah Lux Davis [11], who have both directed videos of hers in the past. We just hope Coolidge isn't the only member of the original Legally Blonde cast [12] who makes an appearance. Since captioning her photos with Mean Girls [13] quotes earlier this week and posing as a modern day Elle Woods, fans are suspecting that she'll be incorporating two more movies in her upcoming video [14].
