Arrowverse Stars Tribute to Stephen Amell Video July 2019

Try Not to Get Emotional Watching the Arrowverse Heroes Bid Farewell to Stephen Amell

Alright (*sniffles*) I'll try to get through this without crying. As dedicated fans of CW's Arrow know, the show is ending this Fall with its eighth season. Although we have a new comic-inspired show to look forward to (hello, Batwoman!), it's hard to think the series that inaugurated the Arrowverse in 2012 is wrapping for good. In a new clip from Entertainment Weekly, members of CW's superhero universe — including Grant Gustin (The Flash), Melissa Benoist (Supergirl), Ruby Rose (Batwoman), and Caity Lotz (DC's Legends Of Tomorrow) — say their goodbyes to Stephen Amell, who has played Arrow's heroic archer since the start.

"None of this would have been possible without Stephen and without the groundwork that Arrow laid," said Gustin, who joined the Arrowverse as Barry Allen/The Flash in 2014. He then recalled meeting Amell and his fellow costars on set of The Flash and Arrow's first crossover episode over four years ago. "I'll never forget showing up for my first day and being scared sh*tless and just so nervous after binge-watching all of Arrow, and they welcomed me with open arms," he added.

Benoist also shared a few kind words, saying, "Stephen, you are our fearless leader, and you started all of this, and it's not going to be the same without you. You're a big dork, and I love you." Although it's going to be a tough farewell, we're thankful for the legacy Arrow has left on the superhero TV genre.
