6 Things We Need to Discuss About Hannah Brown's Season Premiere of The Bachelorette

14/05/2019 - 03:50 AM

Well, Bachelor Nation, it's that time of year again! Hannah Brown [1]'s season of The Bachelorette [2] kicked off on Monday night, and unsurprisingly, it was filled with some pretty dramatic moments. After bearing through all those awkward introductions, things take a crazy turn when two former Bachelor contestants reveal that one of Hannah's suitors isn't "in it for the right reasons." Gasp! Things only get more crazy from there as Hannah gives away her first impression rose, participates in some steamy make out sessions, and sends home a handful of men.

If you weren't able to catch the premiere, don't fret! I've jotted down some of the biggest moments of the night for you right here. So go ahead and chug that glass of wine and dive right in.

Roll Tide!

Did you know that Hannah B. went to the University of Alabama? If you weren't sure at the beginning of the episode, the hundred or so references to "roll tide" probably give it away by the end. She clearly has school spirit, and she wants us to . . . hear it.

Cringe-Worthy Introductions

While the guy who shows off his "package" certainly has an "out of the box" introduction (seriously, how did he fit in that box?), it's the men who make references to Hannah's ex Colton that really make me cringe. One guy proves that some people are just worth jumping over a fence for (K?) by recreating that infamous Colton fence moment from last season, while another breaks the ice by stating that he's a virgin . . . LOL JK. But he is a "virgin" to this experience. Yikes.

Hannah's Angels

Let's be real, every girl needs friends like Katie Morton and Demi Burnett. After getting tipped off that one of Hannah's suitors actually has a girlfriend, the former Bachelor contestants show up at the Bachelor [4] Mansion in a white van (not creepy at all) to watch Hannah's private conversations with the contestants (also not creepy at all) and find the mystery man.

Not in It For the Right Reasons

Spoiler: "Hannah's angels" find the mystery guy and his name is Scott. After pulling Scott out of the room of men, Hannah has an intense conversation with him about his true intentions. According to Scott, he was never "seriously" dating the girl and they broke things off before he came on the show. As Hannah becomes visibly upset about the whole ordeal, Scott proceeds to compare his situation with Hannah's very recent relationship with Colton. That seems to be the last straw for Hannah, because their conversation ends with her more or less shoving him out the front door.

First Impression Rose

After the Scott fiasco, Luke P. wastes no time "coming to Hannah's rescue" and consoling her outside. While it certainly seems like a sweet gesture in the moment, Bachelor Nation couldn't help but question his motives on social media. Of course, that didn't stop Hannah from giving him the first impression rose and partaking in a steamy make out session afterwards. OK, Hannah!

Justice For Matt D., Chasen, and Joe!

It wouldn't be a rose ceremony without a few bittersweet goodbyes. During the premiere, Hannah sent home seven guys (eight, if you include Scott). Among them were the adorable Matt Donald (how can you get rid of someone with a name like that?), the other pilot Chasen, and "box king" Joe. What is it with Joes and going home on the first night? I was personally devastated about the elimination of Brian, aka the guy I referred to as "blue tie guy" the entire episode.
