Beyoncé and JAY-Z's surprise joint album [1], Everything Is Love, is full of tunes that we'll be listening to on repeat all Summer long, but the best part is the hidden references we've discovered after each listen. If you thought the stunning visuals for "APESH*T" [2] was enough to leave your jaw on the floor, check out all the juiciest lyrics from The Carters new LP that will have you salivating ahead.

"APESH*T"

In addition to boasting about his ability to make crowds go "apesh*t" at concerts, JAY-Z confirms reports that he turned down an offer [4] to play the Super Bowl LII halftime show on the second track. "I said "no" to the Superbowl, you need me, I don't need you / Every night we in the endzone, tell the NFL we in stadiums too," the father of three [5] gloats.

He doesn't stop there, though. JAY also takes aim at the Grammys for their history of snubbing the Carters [6]. "Tell the Grammy's f*ck that 0 for 8 sh*t / Have you ever seen the crowd goin' apeshit? (Rah!)," he raps making reference to this years ceremony where the 4:44 rapper was nominated for a eight awards [7] — the most of the night — but took home zero [8].

"713"

If you ever wondered how Beyoncé and JAY-Z fell in love, look no further than "713." The honest track finds JAY-Z reminiscing about the early days of pop music's favourite couple [9]. "We played it cool at the pool of the Cancun, VMA / Confidence you exude make the fools stay away / Me, I played my room, let the fools have they say / Fate had me sittin' next to you on the plane / And I knew straight away," he revealed. "The next time we would speak was like two years away / You had a man, you shut it down until you two had a break / I bet that dude rued the day / You kept me up on the phone while you were away / You came back, I let you set the date, Nobu on the plate / I brought my dude to play it cool, my first foolish mistake."

Later, the business mogul shows his vulnerable side [10] with lines like "I never knew a lo-, lo-, lo-, love like this / Gotta be special for me to write this," and "I never told you, but I told a few people we wed / Me, I'm off to Rome, you goin' back home instead / My first time in my life a live n*gga felt dead / You came back, I had to act like it was cool in my head / Thoughts of jumpin' the broom, a player never been swept."

"FRIENDS"

No topic was off limits on Everything Is Love, including friendships. JAY-Z addressed his feud with Kanye West [11] on the sixth track, rapping, "I ain't goin' to nobody nothin' when me and my wife beefin' / I don't care if the house on fire, I'm dyin', n*gga, I ain't leavin'." The lyric is a direct reference to West's interview he gave back in May [12] revealing he was "hurt that [Beyoncé and JAY-Z] didn't come" to his wedding in 2014. According to the Brooklyn native, fixing things at home with his wife was more pressing and "[if] y'all don't understand that, we ain't meant to be friends."

"LOVEHAPPY"

"Happily in love, haters please forgive me / I let my wife write the will, I pray my children outlive me," JAY-Z asserts at the top of "LOVEHAPPY." The song addresses the couple's marital strife [13] head on a conversational tone that shows the couple aren't afraid to truly go there.

"He went to Jared, I went to Chaumet out in Paris," JAY brags. "Yeah, you f*cked up the first stone, we had to get remarried," Beyoncé shoots back. "Yo, chill man," the rapper replies. "We keepin' it real with these people, right?" the Lemonade singer [14] asks, adding, "Lucky I ain't kill you when I met that b—" Whew!

JAY also reveals that he "had to change the weather" and move to the West Coast after his affair, "but it's whatever," because they're "happily in love" now.

"You did some things to me / Boy, you do some things to me / But love is deeper than your pain and I believe you can change," Beyoncé croons. "Baby, the ups and downs are worth it / Long way to go, but we'll work it / We're flawed but we're still perfect for each other / Sometimes I thought we'd never see the light / Went through hell with heaven on our side / This beach ain't always been no paradise / But nightmares only last one night."
