The Big Bang Theory Will End With Season 12

It's Time to Say Goodbye to Your Favourite Show: The Big Bang Theory Will End With Season 12

It's official folks: the upcoming 12th season of The Big Bang Theory will be its last. Suspicions that the latest season would be the final one first arose in January after Johnny Galecki, who plays Dr. Leonard Hofstadter, commented, "I think at this point, everyone's very comfortable with 12 seasons being a good time to go home and see our families."

In a joint statement, Warner Bros. Television, CBS, and Chuck Lorre Productions officially announced the series' end, saying, "We are forever grateful to our fans for their support of The Big Bang Theory during the past 12 seasons. We, along with the cast, writers and crew, are extremely appreciative of the show's success and aim to deliver a final season, and series finale, that will bring The Big Bang Theory to an epic creative close."

The Big Bang Theory was renewed for seasons 11 and 12 last year with Jim Parsons, Galecki, Kaley Cuoco, Kunal Nayyar, and Simon Helberg all striking new deals. The final season will debut on Monday, Sept. 24 before moving to its regular time period on Thursday, Sept. 27. The show will end with 279 episodes, making it the longest-running multicamera comedy in history.
