Beyoncé's Performance in The Lion King Is Apparently So Good, It Made Billy Eichner Cry

27/03/2019 - 07:30 PM

In case anyone has had any doubts (LOL) about Beyoncé's upcoming role in Disney's live-action remake of The Lion King [1], Billy Eichner is here to confirm that the Queen is doing an amazing job as Nala. So amazing, in fact, that just hearing her voice made him tear up. (Relatable, tbh.)

The comedian, who stars opposite Seth Rogen in the film as Timon [2], recently appeared on an episode of the Keep It podcast where he spoke briefly about how the movie's development has come along so far. Addressing hosts Ira Madison III and Louis Virtel's concerns that Beyoncé isn't actually in it, he said, "She's definitely in the movie because I've seen a rough cut."

Eichner continued, "I've heard her sing 'Can You Feel the Love Tonight?' with Donald Glover and, I'm telling you, it's f*cking good. And that was never my favourite song to be totally honest . . . I liked it when Elton John sang it. I love Elton John. I don't want to give too much away about that. They're very — they do not want us talking about it. I will just say that, honestly, it made me cry and I was not expecting that."

The Lion King hits theatres later this year, and will also star James Earl Jones as Mufasa, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar [3], Seth Rogen [4] as Pumbaa, and John Oliver as Zazu. Watch the clip above to hear Eichner's comments on Beyoncé performance, and listen to Keep It on Spotify to hear the full interview.
