Another epic mindf*ck is headed our way courtesy of Black Mirror [1]. Netflix just released the trailer for Black Mirror: Bandersnatch, which in all likelihood is a standalone feature-length episode [2]. Starring Fionn Whitehead, the cryptic special will be released on Dec. 28, with the entire fifth season [3] presumably hitting the streaming site shortly thereafter.
In the heart-pumping trailer, a computer game programmer in the '80s attempts to create an adventure game inspired by a fictional novel written by a deranged artist who murdered his wife. Along the way, the young programmer experiments with pills and seemingly begins to lose his grip on reality. (In case you were wondering, the bandersnatch is a fictional quick-moving creature first mentioned in Lewis Carroll's Through the Looking-Glass.)
It was previously revealed that the fifth season would contain a choose-your-own-adventure-style episode [4], and given Bandersnatch's very premise, it's very likely the special will be interactive. Watch the trailer ahead as you mentally prepare for the show's most ambitious stunt yet.
