After his gripping performance in this year's Academy Award-nominated movie Vice [1], we almost forgot that Christian Bale [2] not only looks nothing like Dick Cheney but also has quite the acting résumé. Actually, sometimes we even have a tough time remembering that he's British [3].
While we wait to see whether or not Bale will get the chance to make another startling acceptance speech [4], we have been checking out the actor's other notable films. Thankfully, Netflix makes it easy with several enticing options.
The Dark Knight
[Joker voice] And here we go. It's hard to think of an action film that tops The Dark Knight, and thankfully Netflix gives us the chance to watch Bale and the late Heath Ledger [5] go head to head. Not to mention, if you like this instalment in the Batman [6] franchise, there's a whole trilogy.

The Fighter
Bale stunned us in this David O. Russell-directed film. Bale plays former boxer Dicky Eklund, and Mark Wahlberg [8] plays his American welterweight boxer brother, Micky Ward. It's a tumultuous glance at Dicky's torrid relationship with drugs and his struggle to make a comeback. Amy Adams [9] also stars in the film as Mickey's girlfriend, Charlene Fleming.

Hostiles
Bale stars alongside Gone Girl goddess Rosamund Pike and Wes Studi in this film based on Donald E. Stewart's story. The film goes back to 1892 when a United States Cavalry Captain must escort an elderly Cheyenne chief across enemy lines. Did we mention Timothée Chalamet [11] is in it too?

Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle
Who would have thought the voice of Batman would make an excellent Bagheera? And yet in Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle, it totally works. Bale lends his voice to an all-star cast of talent in the remake of this Disney film. Trust us: it's a visual masterpiece.

Terminator Salvation
The 2009 film Terminator Salvation is the fourth instalment in the Terminator series. Bale plays an adult version of John Connor, a man who is mankind's last hope in defeating the murderous machines. The film also stars Sam Worthington [14], Bryce Dallas Howard, Anton Yelchin, and Helena Bonham Carter.

Pocahontas
We couldn't believe it either, but Bale does in fact have a role in one of our favourite Disney movies. While he doesn't voice John Smith (that's Mel Gibson [16]) or Grandmother Willow, he does play John Smith's closest friend, Thomas, and we think he managed to paint with all the colours of the wind.
