Connie Britton Explains Why There's No Need For a Friday Night Lights Reboot

27/11/2018 - 04:50 PM

Texas may be forever, but the Friday Night Lights [1] series is definitely staying in the past. Although it may feel like every movie is being remade [2] and every TV show is being rebooted [3], Connie Britton is setting the record straight on our beloved Dillon Panthers [4] and the rumours that the TV show would be turned into a movie. On Sunday night, the Dirty John [5] actress (she'll always be coach's wife in our eyes [6]), sat down with Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live [7], where he wasted no time before asking about the status of the show. "Oh, is that still being talked about?" she joked.

"Guys, I just don't think it's gonna happen," Britton continued. "I was all for it in the beginning, but now, I really do see how special it is to be able to end a series in that way." Watch the video for her full feelings on a reboot.

When the series ended in 2011, fans were craving more from the cast [8]. Sure, Tim Riggins's luscious hair [9] and swoon-worthy smile [10] didn't hurt to look at every week, but the show had such a familial feel [11] to it that all tied together in the finale. Matt proposes to Julie, Eric and Tami decide to move [12] for Tami's job, and I don't think I'll ever forget that dance between Tim and Tyra at Matt and Julie's engagement party. As much as we'd love to see our favourite Panthers again, we're going to have to agree with Britton: it was a full-circle finale, indeed.
