Demi Lovato Reveals She Relapsed in Her Heartbreakingly Honest Song, "Sober"

21/06/2018 - 05:21 PM

Demi Lovato [1] is coming clean in an emotional new song. On Thursday, the singer revealed that she relapsed after six years of sobriety [2] in a new track titled "Sober." During the chorus she sings, "Mama, I'm so sorry I'm not sober anymore / And Daddy, please forgive me for the drinks spilled on the floor / To the ones who never left me / We've been down this road before / I'm so sorry, I'm not sober anymore."

Later in the song, she directly addresses her fans, who call themselves Lovatics, singing, "I'm sorry for the fans I lost / Who watched me fall again / I wanna be a role model / But I'm only human." The song ends with a promise to herself to get help again.

The singer has been very honest about her battles with drug and alcohol addiction [3] over the years. Aside from opening up about going to rehab during her documentary Simply Complicated [4], Lovato broke down on stage earlier this year when her fans sang "Happy Birthday" in honour of her sober "birthday" [5] during her concert in March. We wish Lovato the best with her recovery!
