Audiences are heading back to the Overlook Hotel. Warner Bros. recently confirmed that it would be adapting Stephen King's Doctor Sleep [1], the sequel to his hugely successful and very terrifying The Shining. Ewan McGregor [2] will star as Danny Torrance, while Rebecca Ferguson was just recently announced as the villain [3].
In Doctor Sleep, Danny is still dealing with the aftermath of the events that took place at the Overlook Hotel when he was a child. Now an adult, Danny uses his psychic abilities to comfort patients at a small-town hospice. The plot really picks up, however, with the discovery of a group that preys on young people who also possess psychic powers.
Mike Flanagan is set to direct the project, who previously worked on Gerald's Game [4], Ouija: Origin of Evil, and Hush [5]. So, yeah, this should be terrifying as hell. Read on to learn about all the actors officially attached to Doctor Sleep.
Ewan McGregor as Danny Torrance
The Christopher Robin actor will portray Danny Torrance, son of Jack and Wendy Torrance. Now an adult, Danny has grappled with his family's dark past, as well as his own alcoholism, and works at a hospice in a remote town.
Rebecca Ferguson as Rose the Hat
The Greatest Showman star [7] will portray Rose the Hat, the leader of the True Knot, a group of twisted psychics who feed off the spirits of children who possess psychic powers, also referred to as the shining. This should be fun.
Zahn McClarnon as Crow Daddy
The Westworld actor will portray Rose's right-hand man and lover, Crow Daddy.
Alex Essoe as Wendy Torrance
The newcomer with prior experience in several horror films will be taking on the role of Wendy Torrance, presumably in flashbacks.
Carl Lumbly as Dick Halloran
The Supergirl actor will play Dick Halloran, a cook at the Overlook Hotel who spoke to Danny about the shining, a power he too possessed.
