Meet the A-List Cast of Tim Burton's Live-Action Dumbo Film

14/06/2018 - 05:20 PM

Disney has revealed the first teaser trailer [1] for the 2019 Dumbo film, and we're already hooked. In addition to getting back to the circus and seeing the adorable Dumbo with his big ears, this film will be brought to you by Tim Burton [2], which means there will be extra thrills and a little darkness that we can't wait to see.

In the new live-action movie we will see Colin Farrell [3]'s Holt return to life under the big top to train and watch the adorable Dumbo [4]. Since Dumbo has big ears he's the laughing stock of the circus, which is struggling to survive, but luckily Holt's children take to him quickly and make him a part of their family. They are the ones who discover that Dumbo can fly, which of course causes a lot of drama for the little elephant.

There are a ton of people in the new movie, and we've rounded up the biggest stars below. Dumbo hits theatres on March 29, 2019.

Colin Farrell

Irish bad boy Colin Farrell [5], who is known for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them among numerous other films, will portray the film's lead character Holt Farrier. Holt was once a circus star, but after going to war and coming back changed he's not exactly the circus's biggest fan. In the movie he will go back to the circus when he's hired to take care of Dumbo and finds that the elephant can actually fly!

Eva Green

The French actress will be one of the many circus performers to watch when Dumbo comes to the big screen. Green, who many know for her role as Vanessa Ives on Penny Dreadful, will be playing aerial artist Colette Marchant, who wants to use Dumbo's talents to make the circus and herself a star. She's clearly a favourite of Tim Burton's, having worked with the director on Dark Shadows and Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children before.

Michael Keaton

Michael Keaton's relationship with Burton spans decades; the two made Beetlejuice in 1988, followed by Batman in 1989 and Batman Returns in 1992. More recently, Keaton has starred in Birdman, The Founder, and Spider-Man: Homecoming. In this film he will again take on a more villainous role as entrepreneur V.A. Vandevere who is ready to take advantage of Dumbo's flying skills.

Alan Arkin

The Oscar winning actor will be one of many great stars starring in the 2019 film. Alan Arkin is set to play Wall Street tycoon J. Griffin Remington. If you're trying to place Alan's iconic face you've probably seen him in Little Miss Sunshine, Argo, Going in Style, or perhaps the 1990 Tim Burton classic, Edward Scissorhands.

Danny DeVito

The It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia star will channel his inner ring leader in Dumbo as the owner of the struggling circus. DeVito is also a Tim Burton alum, having memorably appeared as Penguin in 1992's Batman Returns.

Sandy Martin

You might recognise Sandy Martin as the Grandma in Napoleon Dynamite (and remember her voice from its spinoff series), or from working with DeVito on It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. She's set to play Verma, who we don't know much about yet!
