Madison Montgomery is back from the dead. On June 17, Emma Roberts shared a message on Instagram insinuating that she would be reviving her American Horror Story: Coven [2] character in the show's upcoming season. Days prior, Ryan Murphy confirmed the show's eighth season would be a crossover between American Horror Story: Murder House and Coven [3], both of which are earlier seasons beloved by fans. In her video, Roberts quotes her character's famous and oft-memed line [4], "Surprise, b*tch. I bet you thought you'd seen the last of me."

Several other series regulars have already confirmed their involvement in the season [7], including Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Kathy Bates, Adina Porter, and Cheyenne Jackson. Legendary actress Joan Collins will also be joining the fun in her first-ever and quite unexpected appearance on the show.
The throwback season does leave open the possibility for the return of Connie Britton [8], who appeared in Murder House, and Taissa Farmiga, who appeared in both Murder House and Coven. Then, of course, there's Jessica Lange's deeply felt absence; she has not appeared in the series since its fourth season, Freak Show. Right now would be a pretty good time for that comeback, huh?
