Frances McDormand Acceptance Speech at the 2018 Oscars

Frances McDormand Literally Had All the Women on Their Feet With Her Empowering Oscars Speech

Frances McDormand's Oscars acceptance speech just further proved how much of a freakin' icon she truly is. When the Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri actress took the stage to accept the award for best actress, she began her speech on a funny note, admitting, "I'm hyperventilating. If I fall over, pick me up because I've got some things to say," before giving her husband and son a heartfelt, almost tearful shoutout.

Then the star set her golden statue on the floor before calling on all of the women nominated in every category to stand with her to celebrate the win, joking, "Meryl, if you do it everybody else will; come on." After the crowd erupted into a round of applause for her empowering move, she added, "Look around, everybody . . . because we all have stories to tell and projects we need financed." Watch Frances's incredibly inspiring speech above, which ended with the most legendary curtsy of all time.
