The so-named "Season of Love" [1] has arrived on Grey's Anatomy [2]! As promised, our merry band of surgeons and interns is already getting tangled up in all kinds of love webs. As we found out in the season premiere [3], Meredith and DeLuca's supposed tryst is just a sex dream, but there's plenty more to cover: that sensitive love triangle [4], the inevitable gay romance [5], we're just scratching the surface of all the passion that's sure to bubble up as the season goes on. To help you keep track, let's do a quick breakdown of the major mushy moments we can expect going forward.
Meredith + ??? = ???
After the premiere, one thing is clear: that Meredith is finally ready to date again. And though we were expecting that Meredith and DeLuca hookup [7], it seems this doctor's love life isn't so cut and dried. Meredith's sex fantasies include DeLuca . . . and Koracick, the new "Ortho God," and even Jackson. I mean, we can definitely eliminate Jackson, and Mer seems to have brushed off Koracick, too. But, I'm not sure if she'll go for DeLuca or Link! Seems like she's considering both!
Amelia + Owen = It's Complicated
What a sad roller coaster we went on with these two! First, they divorce. Then, they have some sex. Then, Amelia is like, "I have feelings for you!" Then Owen is like, "Wait, what if this messes everything up?" Long story short, Owen eventually comes around, but he's spooked Amelia. She's not so sure she wants to risk it.
Teddy + Owen = Oh No
Once Teddy finds out that Owen and Amelia are living together and raising a baby, she decides to get the hell out of dodge pretty fast. Unfortunately, some complications with her pregnancy are making it hard to leave Seattle. Will Owen find out the truth before she gets the chance to leave?
Jackson + Maggie = Head Over Heels
These two kind of start the episode on shaky ground. Jackson is rattled from losing April, and then a near-accident pushes him into an existential crisis. By the end of the premiere, Maggie is able to bring him back to Earth. And they both say "I love you" for the first time.
Alex + Jo = Wedded Bliss
Even though half of their honeymoon is spent with Jo making a groundbreaking medical discovery and ignoring Alex, these two are clearly rocking that glow. We love this stable couple.
Glasses + Dr. Kim = Butterflies
We can smell this romance brewing between glasses and Dr. Kim from 100,000 miles away, and we are so excited. From Kim's little wink in the O.R. to that moment he buys Glasses a drink in the bar, we're already grinning like big dorks.
Vik + Carina = Crushin' Hard
After Carina talks about butt stuff (seriously)(I mean, there's more to it than that but just watch the episode), Vik looks like he's been struck by Cupid's arrow. He even tells DeLuca he thinks he's in love.
Helm + Meredith = A Non-Starter
It's a pretty cute moment when a hospitalized matchmaker sees Helm getting all goo-goo-eyed over Meredith. Then she has to be like, "Honey, do not fall in love with a straight woman." What's important is we have a new lady who likes ladies, so who knows where that will go?!
Richard + Catherine = Steady as a Rock
As long as these two are together, I promise to believe that love isn't dead.
