Ever since the 14th season of Grey's Anatomy [1] ended, there's only been one thing on our minds: the 15th season of Grey's Anatomy [2]. Luckily, plenty of details emerged throughout these long Summer months to keep us satiated: we met a hunky new cast member [3], learned all about the new "theme" of the season [4], and even processed those heart-wrenching goodbyes . . . with the help of Sarah Drew [5], of course. Now, it's officially time to look forward to the season premiere. And what better way to prepare than to go over what we've learned so far?!
The Timing
In a recent interview, Camilla Luddington revealed that there won't be a huge time jump [6] at the start of season 15. That means we'll be picking up shortly after the events of the season 14 finale: Alex and Jo's wedding (officiated by Meredith!) and Teddy's arrival back in Seattle.
The Episode Length
Here's a doozy: the season premiere will be two hours long. Sounds to us like a lot of sh*t is going to go down, especially since some of the biggest episodes in Grey's history have been two-hour events.
The Cliffhangers
There are plenty of cliffhangers that we need answers about — are Alex and Jo really leaving Seattle?! — but the biggest is perhaps what might happen between Amelia, Owen, and Teddy. After all, Amelia and Owen are living together, raising two kids together, and potentially falling in love again. And Teddy is pregnant with Owen's baby!
Here's the kicker, though: that sh*tstorm is not going to hit in the season premiere. Kevin McKidd recently revealed to The Hollywood Reporter that Owen doesn't know about Teddy's pregnancy [7], not even in episode two! "It takes a minute for that news to be slammed on Owen," he said. "I think he's going to be a bit vapor-locked for a minute." That means we're going to see plenty of tension in the first episodes of the season as things heat up. Whew.
The New (and Old) Additions
Even though we (tragically) said goodbye to our beloved April [8] and our sunshine, Arizona [9], we have some other entries to look forward to — possibly as soon as episode one. We know what Teddy will hit the ground running from minute one, and Chris Carmack's "ortho god" [10] may show up at the beginning as well. Don't forget that Meredith's dad will also be back [11]. We don't know if these guys will appear in the premiere just yet, but the fact that they were announced so early means they'll likely show up sooner rather than later.
The Premiere Date
We caught the premiere date [12] earlier in the Summer: Sept. 27! You can officially start counting down the days; it's less than a month away!
