Harrison Ford Knows Who Should Play Indiana Jones After He's Done With the Role: "Nobody"

Harrison Ford [1] isn't going to beat around the bush when it comes to discussing the future of Indiana Jones [2] movies. According to the actor, he can't picture anyone else stepping into the role and sporting the classic hat with the whip. During an interview with NBC's Today [3], the 76-year-old actor was asked who he'd like to see as the adventurer. "Nobody is gonna be Indiana Jones," he said, followed by a laugh. "Don't you get it? I'm Indiana Jones. When I'm gone, he's gone. It's easy."

Prior speculation suggested Chris Pratt might be Ford's successor [4], but Ford kindly shut that down during the interview (though, he did accidentally call out the wrong Hollywood Chris). "This is a hell of a way to tell Chris Pine [5] this," he continued on Today. "I'm sorry, man."

Ford has brought the character to life on the big screen four times, beginning with 1981's Raiders of the Lost Ark [6] and most recently in 2008's Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull [7]. He's set to take on his explorer persona a fifth time in 2021 when the provisionally titled Indiana Jones 5 [8] hits theatres July 9, 2021.

There might be a ton of film reboots [9] coming, but it doesn't sound like Indiana Jones will be one of those for the time being. Above, watch Ford chat about his iconic role, starting at the 3:52 mark.
