The first trailer for Shia LaBeouf [1]'s Honey Boy is here and it's a distressing glimpse into the real relationship [2] between LeBeouf and his father, Jeffrey. Cowritten by LaBeouf, the film tells the story of the former Disney star's childhood and traumatic dynamic with his father throughout two different stages of his life. While LaBeouf will portray his own father at both stages (using the name James Lort), A Quiet Place's Noah Jupe and Lady Bird's Lucas Hedges will play a young and adult "Otis Lort," respectively.

Honey Boy, titled after the nickname given to LaBeouf by his father, shows a fictionalised version of the roller coaster of instability that was the star's family life, thanks to his role on Disney Channel's Even Stevens, and his father's recovery from a heroin addiction. Jupe and Hedges portray a young LaBeouf as he struggles to reconcile with his father as well as deal with his mental health during his own journey through rehab and recovery. Watch the trailer ahead.
