I Feel Pretty Trailer

Amy Schumer's New Rom-Com Is the Hilarious (and Tragic) Reality of Female Confidence

The Big Sick just came out last year, but already we feel like we've fallen back into a romantic comedy drought. Fortunately, Amy Schumer is here with a new movie that should quench our thirst: I Feel Pretty. The comedian stopped by Ellen on Thursday to debut the first trailer for the movie, whose tagline posits "What if you could change everything, without changing anything?" It follows an "ordinary" woman (Schumer) struggling with low self-esteem who suffers a nasty fall at SoulCycle and wakes up with a renewed sense of confidence. Like, extreme confidence. The type of confidence that lets you wear miniskirts with reckless abandon, hit on random dudes at the dry cleaners, and tell Naomi Campbell that you're too pretty to model. Confidence with a capital 'C.'

Is it a silly premise? Yes. Women shouldn't have to suffer a near-fatal head injury to feel adequate in their lives (which is clearly the point the movie is trying to make). But at its core, it looks like I Feel Pretty will at least be entertaining and has a pretty interesting cast in addition to leading lady Schumer: Michelle Williams, Rory Scovel, Emily Ratajkowski, Aidy Bryant, Busy Philipps, Tom Hopper, and Lauren Hutton (and Campbell, bless!). I Feel Pretty hits theaters on June 29, 2018.
