Pacino, De Niro, and Pesci All in 1 Film? The Irishman Cast Is Truly Legendary

If you thought Netflix couldn't possibly boast any more star-studded films than it already has, the cast of The Irishman is going to blow your mind. Based on Charles Brandt's true-crime novel I Heard You Paint Houses, this Martin Scorsese film revolves around the scandalous life of Frank "The Irishman" Sheeran, a mob hitman who was known for his supposed involvement in labor union leader Jimmy Hoffa's death. The film has been in development for nearly a decade, and during the 2019 Oscars, Netflix dropped a teaser trailer announcing that the highly anticipated crime drama is finally debuting this Fall. Robert De Niro as Frank "The Irishman" Sheeran

In his ninth feature collaboration with director Martin Scorsese, The Godfather actor Robert De Niro stars in the film as Frank "The Irishman" Sheeran, a labor union official with Mafia ties who served as a high official in the International Brotherhood of Teamsters union and a leading figure in the corruption of unions by organised crime.

Al Pacino as Jimmy Hoffa

In his fourth film with De Niro and first collaboration with Scorsese, Scarface actor Al Pacino costars as Jimmy Hoffa, a labor union leader who served as the president of the IBT union and whose involvement with organised crime led to his disappearance in 1975 (and his longtime friend Sheeran is believed to have been behind it).

Joe Pesci as Russell Bufalino

Best known for playing Leo Getz in the Lethal Weapon franchise and for costarring with De Niro in the Scorsese films Rageing Bull, Goodfellas, and Casino, Joe Pesci appears in the film as Russell Bufalino, a Sicilian-born Mafia leader who served as the head of the Bufalino crime family and who acted as a mentor for Sheeran.

Harvey Keitel as Angelo Bruno

Another frequent Scorsese collaborator, Pulp Fiction and Taxi Driver actor Harvey Keitel plays Angelo Bruno, another Sicilian-born Mafia leader who served as boss of the Philadelphia crime family and with whom Sheeran became a close associate.

Anna Paquin as Peggy Sheeran

Best known for playing Sookie Stackhouse in True Blood and Rogue in the X-Men franchise, Anna Paquin appears as Peggy Sheeran, Frank Sheeran's rebellious daughter, who harbors a growing attraction for her father's friend Hoffa, though it is unknown whether she and Hoffa (who had a reputation for being a frequent adulterer) ever carried on an affair in real life.

Bobby Cannavale as Felix "Skinny Razor" DiTullio

Bobby Carnnavale — who starred as Richie Finestra in Scorsese's HBO drama series Vinyl — plays Felix "Skinny Razor" DiTullio, owner of South Philadelphia's neighbourhood bar, Friendly Lounge (which was known as the headquarters for training new Mafia recruits), as well as one of the Mafia's foremost assassins.

Sebastian Maniscalco as Joe "Crazy Joe" Gallo

Comedian and actor Sebastian Maniscalco makes his feature debut in The Irishman, where he plays Joseph "Crazy Joe" Gallo, a notorious gangster for the New York City Profaci crime family (later known as the Colombo crime family) who was murdered by Sheeran on Bufalino's order.

Ray Romano as Bill Bufalino

Everybody Loves Raymond star Ray Romano appears as Bill Bufalino, an attorney who represented the IBT union and who worked closely with Hoffa until Hoffa's disappearance in 1975. He was also the cousin of Bufalino crime family don Russell.

Stephen Graham as Tony Provenzano

Stephen Graham — who played Al Capone in HBO's Boardwalk Empire — appears as Tony Provenzano, captain of the New York City Genovese crime family, who was known for his association with Hoffa and who used his job as the IBT union vice president to take union funds for his personal use — though their relationship soured after they got caught.
