Kelly Clarkson [3] took the stage in Long Island, NY, on March 7 and sang an unexpected remix that has all the potential to be a chart-topper. Clarkson, who told the crowd she loves many different genres of music, decided to perform a mashup of Cardi B's "Be Careful," Lauryn Hill's "Ex Factor," and Post Malone [4]'s "Better Now." And you better believe she made the medley sound totally seamless and beautiful.
"This idea came to me the other night because I'm a big, huge fan of all three of the artists that we're about to cover," she said to the audience attending her Meaning of Life tour. "I did this mashup because I always find myself singing along to their songs." She also praised each artist individually, commending Cardi B's empowering "Money" music video [5], Post Malone's catchy tunes [6], and Lauryn Hill's 1998 classic album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill [7]. "It changed all of us in every way," she said of Hill's Grammy-winning LP.
Clarkson's show was a part of her "A Minute and a Glass of Wine" segment, in which she drinks wine and covers popular songs. She previously blew everyone away with her rendition [8] of Lady Gaga [9] and Bradley Cooper [10]'s A Star Is Born [11] hit "Shallow" as well as a slowed-down version [12] of Robyn's "Dancing on My Own." And we can't wait to see what else she has in store. Skip to the 7:28 mark in the video above to hear Clarkson's amazing remix of Cardi B, Lauryn Hill, and Post Malone!
