Danielle Rose Russell played Hope Mikaelson in the fifth and final season of The Originals, and she will be reprising her role as the lead character in the new spinoff series.

Matt Davis has already played Alaric Saltzman in both The Vampire Diaries and The Originals, and he is back in the fan-favourite role in Legacies. In the new show, he will be seen running the Salvatore Boarding School For the Young and Gifted and raising his twin daughters Josie and Lizzie.

Kaylee Bryant has joined the show playing Alaric's daughter Josie Saltzman, who possesses the abilities of a siphoner, which is a subsection of witches.

Peyton Alex Smith has joined the cast in the role of Rafael, a charismatic and newly triggered werewolf.

Aria Shahghasemi has already made a few appearances as Landon on The Originals, and he is back in the same role, playing the lovable Mystic Grill worker who catches Rose's eye.
