The Best Bits From Love Island: Maura Set Her Sights on Curtis

08/07/2019 - 02:30 PM

Between mass breakups and a surprise visit from Craig David [1], Sunday night's episode of Love Island [2] was one of the wildest rides of this season. We'd even go so far to say that Episode 30 brought an end to the biggest week in Love Island history. Yes, it was that juicy.

Last week's antics left us all screaming at our televisions where, following the girls' return from Casa Amor [3], we witnessed the moment Amber's heart was ripped in two by Michael, Jordan was tossed to the side by Anna and, at the risk of repeating ourselves, Amy was chosen then almost immediately dumped by good guy Curtis. But it wasn't all bad news coming out of the villa last week, with Tommy and Molly-Mae cementing themselves as the couple to beat, staying loyal to one another while Molly was away in Casa Amor. Honestly, we don't think we'll ever get the beautiful image of Tommy clutching Molly-Mae's stuffed elephant toy, Elly Belly, tightly as they were reunited.

Last week made us question everything we thought we knew about the islanders, and the tea was almost too hot to handle. Keep reading to catch up on all the best bits of Love Island from Sunday night.

Maura and Lucie Broke Up With Their Partners

Honestly, there isn't a lot to say about Maura and Lucie cutting Marvin and George loose. It's about time really, since neither couple has done anything interesting enough to warrant any significant airtime since returning from Casa Amor. Next!

Joanna Pulled Michael and Amber For a Chat

To say it was a turbulent week for Amber, Michael, and newcomer Joanna would be a huge understatement. After Michael unceremoniously dumped Amber at the post-Casa Amor recoupling and blamed her for everything that went wrong in their relationship, we don't think we're overstating when we say the entirety of the UK was left to pick their jaws up off the floor. Suddenly, squeaky-clean Michael didn't seem so perfect after all.

After a blowout (one of the biggest we've ever seen on Love Island), Amber and Michael finally sat down to iron out their differences, and Michael gave her the apology he really should have the moment Amber re-entered the villa. They both left the chat laughing, but after Amber reported all the details back to the girls — who then told Joanna that Michael definitely didn't explicitly tell Amber there was no chance they would rekindle their romance — Joanna was displeased.

In a shocking display of maturity that isn't often seen on Love Island, Joanna decided to nip the drama in the bud, pinning Michael and Amber down to clear the air once and for all. Michael was adamant that he clearly cut all ties with Amber, and Joanna and Amber agree that he was not clear at all. The girls, satisfied with their conversation part ways and leave Michael in a strop over Amber once again. We're sure this isn't the end of this saga.

Anna Decided to Pursue Jordan, Not Ovie

Ever since Anna decided to ditch Jordan in favour of Ovie following a week in Casa Amor, Jordan has taken it like an absolute champ. Proving that slow and steady will sometimes win the race, Anna decided last night that she would prefer to pursue Jordan after all.

Craig David Entered the Villa to DJ For the Islanders

Love Island is known for their party montages, and last night was one of the best. Well-known aughts artist Craig David entered the villa last night to host an exclusive Ministry of Sound pool party, and the islanders couldn't believe it. Anton and Tommy were particularly blown away, but perhaps the most notable moment was when eagle-eyed viewers spotted Amy and Curtis holding hands as they ran down the stairs toward the party.

Maura Admitted to Curtis That She Fancies Him

Continuing her reign as both the most polarising and loved islander of the season, Sunday night's episode of Love Island saw Maura pulling Curtis for a chat and confess to fancying him. Curtis was shocked, particularly since she never replied to his DM on Instagram before entering the villa, and it was hard to tell whether he fancies her back, although he was definitely flattered (who wouldn't be?).

Earlier in the episode, Lucie and Maura cooked up a plan to help Maura get closer to Curtis, which involved convincing him to teach her a "basic cha-cha" in the garden. With Amy watching it all go down from afar, there will definitely be fireworks if these two get together and, as usual, we are so here for the drama.
