One of the highlights of Sunday night's Grammy Awards [1] was undoubtedly the star-studded tribute [2] to music legend Dolly Parton [3]. Katy Perry [4], Kacey Musgraves, Maren Morris, and Little Big Town all participated in a medley of Parton's biggest hits [5], before being joined by the icon herself [6]. Miley Cyrus [7] also joined the tribute performance, which was extra special for her: Parton is not just her fellow singer, but also her godmother [8]!

Cyrus and Parton duetted on "Jolene," Parton's 1973 hit song [9]. Their duet was far from the first time Cyrus has covered her godmother's song, though — over the years, it's become an established part of her set list, and Parton has even joined her on more than one occasion! Hallmark Channel (2010)

For the Hallmark Channel's 2010 special 25 Years of Dollywood, Cyrus joined her godmother Parton on the stage for a duet of "Jolene." The special was filmed in front of a live audience at the Dollywood theme park in Tennessee.

Backyard Sessions (2012)

Cyrus's most famous solo cover of "Jolene" came with this 2012 arrangement, performed as part of her "Backyard Sessions" music video series.

MTV Unplugged (2014)

Cyrus's Unplugged special in 2014 came at the height of her quirky "Wrecking Ball" era, but she still made time to croon this longtime favourite.

Bangerz Tour (2014)

The Bangerz Tour was Cyrus's fourth concert tour and was filmed for DVD release. Alongside campy, sometimes surreal performances from her album, Bangerz, and some of her iconic songs, Cyrus slowed things down with a straightforward, simple cover of "Jolene" just sitting centre stage.

The Voice (2016)

Cyrus, a judge on the Spring 2016 cycle of The Voice, hopped onstage to perform the song as a duet with contestant Darby Walker. After Walker impressed with a cover of "Stand By Me," Cyrus declared she wanted to sing with her right then and there, leading to this impromptu duet.

The Voice with Dolly Parton and Pentatonix (2016)

Parton once again made an appearance to sing "Jolene" with goddaughter Cyrus. This time, they were joined by Pentatonix for a very special arrangement of the song for an episode of The Voice.

Wango Tango (2017)

Cyrus was a featured artist at the 2017 Wango Tango, hosted by California radio station 102.7 KIIS FM at Stubhub Centre at California State University. As part of her set, she belted out her version of "Jolene" to a cheering crowd.

The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon (2017)

Cyrus was game for one of Fallon's patented stunts: in this case, busking in disguise in a subway station in New York City. The duo donned goofy wigs and hats before Cyrus performed a doubleheader of "Jolene" and "Party in the USA."
