This dramatization of the incident stars Jason Clarke as Kennedy, Kate Mara as Kopechne, and Bruce Dern as Joseph P. Kennedy Sr.

As a way of coping, he creates a 1/6 scale WWII-era Belgian town and populates it with dolls. The town is called Marwencol. This 2018 film will bring that town to life. It stars Steve Carell as Hogancamp, with the titular women being played by Leslie Mann, Diane Kruger, Janelle Monae ,and Eiza González. Gwendoline Christie plays Hogancamp's caretaker and Merritt Wever plays a local store owner who supplies Hogancamp with all his models and toy figurines.
