Much like Elle and Lee, Naomi (Victoria Justice) and Ely (Pierson Fode) have been best friends their entire lives. They've always been in love — even though Ely isn't actually into girls. The two create a "No Kiss List" — a list of people neither of them could kiss and, therefore, fight over — and while it's prevented conflict in the past, their bond is tested when they end up falling for the same guy.

Maddy Datner (Danielle Campbell) and Cole Reede (Joel Courtney) are inseparable. That is, until high school takes them down vastly different paths. While Maddy rises to the top of the social hierarchy, Cole becomes something of a social outcast. Alex Strangelove tells the story of Alex Truelove (Daniel Doheny), a high school senior who seemingly has it all — he's student body president, has an amazing girlfriend, Claire (Madeline Weinstein), and has a bright future ahead. This new Netflix rom-com tells the story of Harper (Zoey Deutch) and Charlie (Glen Powell), two overworked assistants who work in the same building. Upon meeting, they connect over just how unbearable both of their bosses are, which brings them to the realisation that they might not be so bad if they were dating each other. From there, Harper and Charlie concoct a (in Charlie's own words) "full-on Parent Trap" plan to get their bosses romantically involved.

Dave (Dylan O'Brien) and Aubrey (Britt Robertson) couldn't be more different. Dave is a shy high school senior who spends most of his time working up the courage to go after a girl he can't have. Aubrey is a down-to-earth junior from a different school whose hot, older boyfriend doesn't care to understand her. One night, the two find themselves at the same party and instantly make a connection. What ensues is a weekend of humour and romance as the two get to know one another.

As if life as an awkward high schooler isn't hard enough, things get more complicated when Nadine's (Hailee Steinfeld) best friend Krista (Haley Lu Richardson) begins dating her all-star older brother, Darian (Blake Jenner). This coming-of-age story follows Nadine, who now feels more alone than ever, as she navigates what it's like to be a young woman today. You'll spot some familiar faces in Nadine's mother (Kyra Sedgwick), new friend Erwin (Hayden Szeto), and trusted history teacher and sounding board (Woody Harrelson).

Dani Barnes (Nesta Cooper) is a high school senior who's always dreamed of getting into UC Davis. Something else she's always dreamed of? Catching the attention of her longtime crush, Cameron (Keith Powers). When she undergoes a makeover and a Cady Heron-esque shift in popularity, she succeeds in getting noticed by him, but in doing so she also crosses his ex girlfriend and social media star Alexa Medina (Alicia Sanz).

That is, until he discovers he can time travel back to the night they met, doing so over and over again to better his chances of ending up with her. Think Groundhog Day for the modern millennial.

The DUFF tells the story of high school student Bianca (Mae Whitman), who discovers the school recognises her as the DUFF (designated ugly fat friend) to her more popular counterparts (Skyler Samuels, Bianca Santos). Another British hit, Angus, Thongs, and Perfect Snogging centres on 14-year-old Georgia Nicolson (Georgia Groome), who's prone to getting herself into embarrassing, diary-entry worthy situations. The story follows her as she tries to capture the attention of Robbie (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) and discovers, as most teenagers do, that navigating life as a teen is tricky business.

If you haven't seen this film, what are you doing? A cult classic, Mean Girls was the real silver screen breakout for superstar actresses Lindsay Lohan and Rachel McAdams. The story follows high school new girl Cady Heron (Lohan) as she hits it off with The Plastics, the school's exclusive all girl clique. What starts off as harmless hangouts soon turn into spy missions and sabotage as Cady develops a crush on Aaron Samuels (Jonathan Bennett) and discovers queen bee Regina George's (McAdams) real manipulative, mean side. Packed to the brim with iconic quotes, this one's a classic.

After being mistreated by her school's soccer program and now ex-boyfriend, Viola (Bynes) decides to disguise herself as her brother and attend boarding school in his place. The Scarlet Letter is reimagined for modern audiences in this film, which stars Emma Stone, Amanda Bynes, and Penn Badgley. Before Brittany Snow starred in Pitch Perfect she played a role in this dramedy. Three teenagers—Heather (Ashanti), Beth (Sophia Bush) and Carrie (Arielle Kebbel)—discover they've been two-timed (three-timed?) by the most popular guy in school, John Tucker (Jesse Metcalfe). In order to exact revenge they recruit new girl Kate (Snow) to break John's heart. The plan is to steal his heart, then drop him like a bad habit, but things turn south when John and Kate begin to actually fall for one another.

The first film of an iconic franchise, A Cinderella Story follows geeky high school student Samantha Martin (Hilary Duff) as she handles the death of her father and adjusting to life with her cruel step-mother (Jennifer Coolidge) and step-sisters (Madeline Zima, Andrea Avery Ray). The family takes advantage of Sam's hard work and independence, often using her to do their chores and dirty work. School is no better, where she's bullied by rich mean girl Shelby (Julie Gonzalo). Yet, all of this changes when Sam begins a text correspondence with mystery man and fellow student, Austin (Chad Michael Murray). They connect through emails and text messages over shared goals and ambition, agreeing to meet at the school's big dance. Little do they know how complicated getting there and the aftermath will be.

Cara Delevingne broke onto the acting scene in Paper Towns, and who could forget? Based on the best selling book by John Green, the film is a coming-of-age story that follows Quentin (Nat Wolff) and his mysterious neighbour Margot (Delevingne). After a night of pranks and adventure together, Quentin wakes up the next morning to find that Margot has disappeared. He soon beings to find clues that she's left behind, hinting at where she might be. With a ragtag group of both his and her friends, Quentin sets out on a road trip to find her. Much like The Kissing Booth, this film is full of humour and heart.

The DCOM to end all DCOMs, Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen centres around urban teenager Mary Elizabeth Cep (Lindsay Lohan), or Lola, as she prefers to be called. Yet, her entire life changes when her mother reveals that her biological father was the prince of a small European nation called Genovia. With the help of her grandmother, Queen Clarisse Renaldi (Julie Andrews), Mia will begin her transformation from normal high school girl to actual princess.

Who didn't think of this movie when The Kissing Booth's red curtains made their appearance? A truly iconic franchise, the High School Musical films exemplify our high school experience. Not because it's true to how high school really is, but because not one of us went through our school days without having seen (and sang along to) this movie dozens of times over. Launching pad for the likes of Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, and Ashley Tisdale, this musical about self acceptance, love, and . . . well, a high school musical, is not to be forgotten.

A sleepover film for the ages, Clueless follows a similar story to Jane Austen's Emma. Cher (Alicia Silverstone) is a shallow, popular high school student whose priorities revolve around her friends and her (insanely cool) closet. But despite how she appears on the surface, she also feels a need to help those less fortunate than her. Case and point: Her new friend Tai (Brittany Murphy), who she grooms to be a prodigy of herself. Although things start out the way Cher likes them, they begin to take turn after surprising turn. While Cher grapples with the going-ons at school, she also finds herself looking for love in the most unexpected place.

Kathryn (Sara Michelle Gellar) and Sebastian (Ryan Phillippe) are step siblings — and rich, manipulative ones at that. Just like The Kissing Booth, there are secrets, betrayals, and romance, only this time it's taken down a dark path that's just as enticing.

Does this film honestly need an introduction? One of the — if not the sole — first classic high school films, the movie tells the story of five high school students who meet in Saturday detention and come to find that they're more similar than they initially realised. If you love Molly Ringwald in The Kissing Booth and Riverdale, you'll love seeing her (as well as Anthony Micheal Hall, Emilio Estevez, Judd Nelson, and Ally Sheedy) in this masterpiece.

If you enjoyed the paint fight, table dancing, and "embarrassing" romantic gesture that The Kissing Booth had to offer, you'll fall in love with the film they call back to. Not enough good things could be said about 10 Things I Hate About You, and frankly, if you haven't seen it you should just watch it. Here's the short of it: Katarina (Julia Stiles), a popular, pretty girl isn't allowed to go on a date until her broody older sister Bianca (Larisa Oleynik) does. Because of this, Katarina and Cameron (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), a boy who's after her heart, plot to get her to fall for bad boy Patrick (Heath Ledger). What ensures are some of the most classic scenes in rom-com.
