Apparently, Netflix Is All About Thrillers This July, Because We're Getting a Bunch of Them

Do you like thrills? Well, you're in luck, because July on Netflix is full of them. This month, Netflix will be debuting nail-biting new thrillers from all over the world — including Taiwan, Singapore, Spain, Argentina, and here in the US — and our pulses are already racing. But it's not just thrillers coming this month — July will also debut a comedy-drama from Spain, as well as a new Chris Evans-led biographical drama, which will retell the rescue story of Ethiopian Jewish immigrants from Sudan to Israel in 1981. 1. Cities of Last Things

In this inventive Taiwanese drama, the film opens with a suicide of a man named Zhang Dong Ling and proceeds in reverse chronological order, telling the story of the three key incidents that compelled Zhang to take his own life.

2. 4 Latas

This Spanish comedy-drama follows two longtime pals, Tocho and Jean Pierre, as they take a road trip from Spain to Mali to reunite with their dying friend one last time — and to surprise their friend with his estranged daughter, Ely, whom they've brought along with them.

3. Kidnapping Stella

This freaky thriller from Singapore revolves around the titular Stella, the daughter of a millionaire who is kidnapped by two masked men and held for ransom — though, little do Vic and Tom know, she's not going to give in to their plan so easily.

4. Point Blank

In this remake of the 2010 French action thriller of the same name, Frank Grillo and Anthony Mackie star as a career criminal and an ER nurse, respectively, who find themselves unexpectedly teaming up when a ring of corrupt cops threaten the livelihood of both of their families.

5. Secret Obsession

Former Disney Channel darling Brenda Song stars in this psychological thriller as Jennifer, a young woman who suffers from amnesia following a violent attack, and as her memories start to come back, she finds that she no longer knows who to trust.

This Spanish thriller revolves around a young new chauffeur who — while waiting to hear back from his girlfriend with her answer to a potentially life-changing decision — must spend the day driving around his first clients, Michael and Gordon, two Chinese businessmen who have come to Barcelona in order to close a multimillion-dollar deal and who draw the young man into an increasingly bizarre adventure.

In this Argentinian thriller, a 50-year-old painter named Lorenzo attempts to rebuild his life after falling on hard times while he anxiously awaits the arrival of his first son. While he does so, his pregnant new wife unexpectedly succumbs to increasingly aggressive and obsessive behaviour, which threatens their relationship, as well as his relationship with his future son.

8. The Red Sea Diving Resort

This biographical drama retells the rescue story of Ethiopian Jewish immigrants from Sudan to Israel in 1981, with Captain America's Chris Evans starring as an Israeli agent who ran a secret Mossad operation to smuggle persecuted Ethiopian Jews by using a deserted holiday retreat as a front.
