Ophelia Movie Trailer

Shakespeare's Hamlet Plays Out From a Very Different Perspective in the Trailer For Ophelia

Daisy Ridley is leaving the futuristic world of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker behind for a very different setting in her new film, Ophelia: the 14th century castle featured in Shakespeare's Hamlet. However, this reimagining of the classic tale is seen through the eyes of Ophelia (Ridley), who is Queen Gertrude's (Naomi Watts) favourite lady-in-waiting before she attracts the attention of Prince Hamlet (George MacKay) and their forbidden love blossoms amid a time of war, tragedy, and death.

Although the events of director Claire McCarthy's film will play out much like they do in Shakespeare's original tragedy, the dialogue is spoken in a contemporary voice. In addition to Ridley, Watts, and MacKay, the cast is rounded out by Clive Owen and Tom Felton. Watch the trailer above!
