Queer Eye Cast 2018

Queer Eye: Meet the Fab 5 Hosting Netflix's Reboot

Netflix is reviving the popular Bravo makeover show Queer Eye For the Straight Guy (shortened to Queer Eye in the original third season because the makeover subjects began to include women and homosexual men). The revival is using the same formula as the original, but it features a new "Fab Five," aka the experts in things like personal grooming, style, cooking, design, and culture.

While each new expert will have input for all aspects of the makeover, they definitely have their strengths, so before you dive into the premiere, meet the five new guys who are sure to have you cheering and laughing as they help their makeover subjects become their best selves.

Karamo Brown

Speciality: Culture

This Real World and Challenge alum is the culture expert. He has worked as a TV host on Dr. Drew on Call, HuffPost Live, and Access Hollywood Live. Brown also founded 6in10, an organisation that provides mental health support and education to the LGBTQ+ community with regard to HIV and AIDS.

Tan France

Speciality: Fashion

This Brit is the fashion expert, something that is on full display in his Instagram posts. In an interview, he told Variety that he's excited about the revival's ability to dig into the experts' personal lives, something that the original had to be more careful about.

"[The original experts] couldn't talk about their private lives. This time we've got the bandwidth to talk about ourselves. You're ready to learn the ins and outs of real gay life. We're your peers, not just accessories," said France.

Antoni Porowski

Speciality: Food

This actor is the food expert, recommended for the revival by the original's food expert himself, Ted Allen — Porowski previously worked as Allen's personal chef. If his Instagram account is any indication, he definitely knows his way around a kitchen.

Jonathan Van Ness

Speciality: Grooming

Last but not least is the personal grooming expert known for his Funny or Die series Gay of Thrones (and if you haven't watched these Game of Thrones video recaps, remedy that ASAP). Van Ness also hosts a biweekly podcast that focuses on anything he may be curious about, bringing in experts to talk about each episode's particular focus.
