Adam Driver Uncovers the CIA's Post 9/11 Secrets in First Trailer For The Report

22/08/2019 - 03:41 PM

"Democracy is messy," Jon Hamm [1] says in the tense final moments of The Report's first trailer, and boy is he right. The upcoming dramatic thriller [2] stars Adam Driver as Senate staffer Daniel J. Jones, tasked with investigating the CIA's post 9/11 Detention and Interrogation Program by his boss, Senator Dianne Feinstein (Annette Bening). Inspired by real-life events [3], the film follows Jones's "relentless pursuit of the truth," which leads to the discovery of the agency's brutal and ineffective interrogation methods. But when the Senate Intelligence Committee attempts to release the findings of the investigation, they realise the great lengths the CIA and the White house will go to destroy evidence and hide their secrets from the American public.

The Report originally dropped at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival, where Amazon Studios quickly snapped up distribution rights. Hamm portrays former White House Chief of Staff Denis McDonough, along with a star-studded ensemble cast including Michael C. Hall, Corey Stoll, Jennifer Morrison, Matthew Rhys, and Maura Tierney. Watch the trailer above, and catch the drama in theatres on Nov. 15, then on Amazon Prime on Nov. 29.
