If This Blind War Veteran's Soulful AGT Audition Doesn't Earn a Golden Buzzer, We're Rioting

America's Got Talent [1] truly saved one of the best for last. In a sneak peek video from the NBC show's final season 14 audition [2] episode, which airs this Tuesday, contestant Robert Finley blows all four judges and the entire audience away with a soulful and inspiring-as-heck singing performance. A 65-year-old born and raised in Louisiana, Robert fought in the Vietnam War before starting a family and devoting his life to carpentry, but everything changed when he lost his eyesight due to glaucoma a few years ago, leading him to rediscover his passion for music. "I had to lose my physical sight so I could see my true destiny," the war veteran explains before taking the stage with a little help from host Terry Crews [3].

Wearing black leather pants and a matching cowboy hat, Robert sings a joyous rendition of his own original song titled "Get It While You Can," immediately winning over the crowd with his blues-style vocals and joyous stage presence. The judges were clearly moved by Robert's uplifting story and talent, as they each gave his performance high praise. "You might not be able to see us, but I hope you can feel us," Julianne Hough said, before Simon Cowell [4] chimed in to compare his voice to a fine wine that's only gotten better with age. We couldn't agree more! Watch the full episode of America's Got Talent this Tuesday to see whether Robert advances to the next round of the competition. Our fingers (and toes!) are crossed that he earns Julianne's coveted golden buzzer [5] — the final golden buzzer of the season!
