Rudd hosted Saturday Night Live's season finale on May 18, and participated in a skit familiar to actors Ryan Gosling, Brie Larson, and Liev Schreiber.

He joined McKinnon and Cecily Strong in a"paranormal encounters" sketch which is a fan-favourite for getting hosts to break character, but Rudd held strong. He kept his cool as McKinnon thrusted against his neck and stuck her tongue in his ears, never letting a tiny smile or chuckle betray him. Sorry, but Gosling could never.
