10 Elite Series That Rival the High-Society Drama of Gossip Girl

Just like Gossip Girl, which is based on the YA book series by Cecily von Ziegesar, this CW series is far removed from its original source material and deliciously dark. Riverdale follows the lives, romances, and deceptions of Archie, Betty, Veronica, and Jughead from the Archie Comics, enticing its viewers with unrealistically beautiful teens, incredible clothes, and major doses of drama.

Though tragically short-lived, this Bravo reality series offered an insider's look into the lives of the real Manhattan elite. Just like Gossip Girl, this CW series is based on a YA novel — How to Teach Filthy Rich Girls by Zoey Dean — but rather than Manhattan, Privileged introduces the elite world of Palm Beach, FL.

Though Gossip Girl doesn't involve any witches (just some characters who you could call a word that rhymes with witches. . .), Salvatore will definitely remind you of the enviable and endlessly preppy Constance Billard School for Girls.

In this Netflix crime drama, three working-class teens displaced by an earthquake are enrolled in the most exclusive school in Spain, and the clash between the classes erupts into a battle that eventually turns fatal. It's like the battle between Jenny Humphrey and Blair Waldorf, but even more dramatic (if that's possible).

This reboot of the primetime '80s soap of the same name revolves around two rival families in Atlanta, the Carringtons and the Colbys, and the tension between heiress Fallon Carrington and her billionaire father's new wife, Cristal Flores, whom she doesn't trust. If you love the blue blood battles of Gossip Girl, you'll love this CW series just as much.

The CW reboot of the original Aaron Spelling-created series, Beverly Hills, 90210 — which ran for 10 seasons in the '90s — still revolves around the relationships and alliances between a tight-knit group of privileged teens attending West Beverly Hills High School, though the remake offers an edgier twist. The lives and wardrobes of West Coast teens and East Coast teens may be totally different, but you'll find that the drama is still pretty much the same.

Rather than being stalked by a mysterious gossip blogger who wants to spill their secrets and exploit their lives, the teens on Pretty Little Liars have a stalker with far more malicious intentions. With even more convoluted conspiracies and dramatic reveals than Gossip Girl, PLL and its well-dressed, unfairly hot cast will make any Upper East Side fan feel at home.

Instead of high school royalty, this series is centreed on actually royalty, following the fictitious and scandalous exploits of Mary, Queen of Scots, who's played by Teen Wolf's Adelaide Kane. If you think Queen Bee Blair Waldorf is powerful, just wait until you see Mary and her ladies-in-waiting in action.
