Did you really think the trailer for Deadpool 2 [3] wasn't going to contain a few hilariously inappropriate, meta Easter eggs? Come on now.
In the latest footage from the upcoming sequel, Ryan Reynolds's Merc with a Mouth not only introduces us to Josh Brolin's Cable [4] and his newly-formed X-Force superhero team (oh hi, Domino!), but also manages to drop a few perfect jokes into the mix. In between catch phrases like "Let's go get our f*ck on," Deadpool makes time for a few pop culture observations. The best among them is a meditation on the 2005 classic Sisterhood of the travelling Pants [5], which stars Reynolds's real-life wife, Blake Lively [6].
"Doing the right thing is messy, but if you want to fight for what's right, sometimes you have to fight dirty," Deadpool tells Dopinder (Karan Soni) near the end of the trailer. "That's why Sisterhood of the travelling Pants is pure pornography."
Admittedly, that wasn't our impression of the feel-good rom-com about the importance of female friendship back in the day, but to each their own. Watch the trailer below to hear the joke in all its glory for yourself.
