We Have Some Strong Words For Whoever Decided to Cancel These Shows in 2018

It's hard to believe that Priyanka Chopra-backed ABC drama Quantico will not be back for a fourth season. The breakout hit of 2015 has garnered quite a fan base, but it wasn't enough to save it from the cancellation axe. At least we can still watch cast member Pearl Thusi in her new Netflix original series Queen Sono!

After one season, NBC's high school musical drama was cancelled, despite drawing comparisons to Friday Night Lights and Glee. The show starred Auli'i Cravalho (aka Moana) and Shannon Purser (our girl from Sierra Burgess Is a Loser), and to say there was an uproar after the cancellation announcement is an understatement; a Twitter hashtag called #SaveRise was put into action, but sadly failed.

It looks like Katharine McPhee's drama won't be getting a fifth season, and we are suddenly panicking over how we're going to fill our Monday nights. Fans praised Scorpion for its unique plot points and its captivating characters, but what's even more upsetting is that the final season left us on a cliffhanger. We have way too many unanswered questions!

Truly, we're going to need some time to process the fact that Great News will be not be returning for a third season. With 30 Rock's Tracey Wigfield at the helm and executive producer Tina Fey (aka our hero) backing the show, it had the makings of a comedy classic. Unfortunately, the ratings never improved. If you need us, we'll be drowning our sorrows in Ben & Jerry's Liz Lemon Greek Frozen Yoghurt.

We worship anything Kaitlin Olson does, and we were so lucky to be able to watch her in both It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and The Mick, but it looks like we won't be spoiled anymore. After two seasons, Olson's Fox comedy series landed on the chopping block, and it is one of the more surprising cancellations this year. Unfortunately, the show had big plans for its next season, which we'll never get to see unless Netflix decides to pick up the show (hint, hint).

Dear Netflix, what were you thinking canceling this show? The streaming site didn't back down from its decision even after Regina King won an Emmy for her role. We have no idea why the show didn't get picked up for a second season, but we think Seven Seconds was one of the best crime dramas of the year.

If we don't say it out loud, maybe this news isn't actually true. We've spent the last five years splitting our sides laughing at comedian Nathan Fielder's hilarious docu-reality TV series on Comedy Central. We'll even go on record as saying the "Dumb Starbucks" instalment was one of the most genius episodes of television ever. While we won't get a fifth season, we can at least stream reruns on Hulu.

After just one season, the Craig Robinson and Adam Scott series Ghosted will not be returning. The show, which is basically a more comedic version of Supernatural, had a bit of a turbulent year, and eventually landed in the hands of Paul Lieberstein, who played Toby on The Office. But everyone's favourite human resources representative was not enough to redeem the show, even though it had some great laughs.

Aaron Paul's Hulu series The Path will not be getting a season four, and we cannot comprehend it. Besides Paul, the show featured an all-star cast in Michelle Monaghan, Hugh Nancy, Kyle Allen, Emma Greenwell, and Freida Pinto, and it focussed on a family embroiled in a cult movement.

Another show that bit the dust despite so much potential on paper. Mindy Kaling produced Champions (and even appeared), while Anders Holm (Workaholics), Andy Favreau, and J.J. Totah starred. There was a brief glimmer of hope when Netflix seemed to be interested in picking up the show, but for now it has only agreed to release the first season to international audiences.

This was a rough year for comedy talk shows on Netflix, and The Joel McHale Show With Joel McHale is no exception. It was so exciting to have Joel McHale's pop culture commentary back on the silver screen, but it looks like it was all a brief dream. The good news is we can still watch McHale on Netflix's Santa Clarita Diet.

We told you it was a rough year for comedy talk shows. Even though The Break With Michelle Wolf was a huge breakout hit for Netflix, it still wasn't enough to warrant another season. We'll miss Wolf's hot takes on current events, and her amazing featured guests like Nick Kroll, Hannibal Buress, and Seth Meyers, but we have no doubt the comedian will have another project in the near future.
