This Is Us is filled with beautiful music, but some of our favourite songs are the ones sung by the actual cast. During the episode "Sometimes," we get a better glimpse of how Jack and Rebecca's love story began. After taking a road trip to Los Angeles together, the two share a heartfelt moment as Rebecca (Mandy Moore) sings her demo in the car, and Jack (Milo Ventimiglia) breaks down in tears as he recounts his time in Vietnam. The song, "Invisible Ink," seems to go perfectly with the scene, and for a good reason. The track was actually written especially for the show.

In fact, it actually has a personal connection to Moore as it was written by the actress's fiancé Taylor Goldsmith and This Is Us composer Siddhartha Khosla. Khosla knew he would be creating a Joni Mitchell-esque song for Moore to sing on the show, and he eventually reached out to the Dawes frontman to help him. "It's funny to be aware of a song's impression and then you have to write the song that's going to inspire that impression. And if he's going to open up and emotional and react to something, then certain things like, 'It turns out all my mistakes were forgivable,'" Goldsmith said during the This Is Us aftershow. See how the song came to be ahead, before playing Moore's gorgeous track on repeat.
