We've spent our entire Summer collecting our emotions after everything that happened in This Is Us season two. We finally learned the cause of Jack's death, we witnessed Kate's heartbreaking miscarriage, we watched Kevin hit his rock bottom, and we were introduced to Deja. Now that we've finally put our hearts back together, we are turning our attention to season three.

The series will resume [1] on Sept. 25, and fans are already off to the races with theories about where the show will go [2]. We've gotten a lot of hints from the writers, cast members, and showrunners, but in classic This Is Us fashion, the truth is anyone's guess. Deja will ostracize herself from the family.

Season two ends with Deja smashing up Randall's car, so it's possible that she continues lashing out and pushing away the Pearson family. Fans have speculated that when Randall goes to see an adult Tess in the future timeline, he is referring to either Rebecca or Beth when he tells Tess that it is time to see "her." The "her" in question, however, could definitely be Deja, and Randall is trying to mend the burned bridge. Perhaps Deja gets so out of control that she hurts someone in the family physically, and now she is in jail. Or perhaps it's not as sinister as that, but Tess has still chosen to cut her out of her life.

Jack's brother dies saving him.

There's been plenty of hints dropping that season three will focus a lot on Jack's backstory and his time in Vietnam. Michael Angarano has been cast [3] as Jack's brother Nicky, and it looks like he'll play a pretty big role in the new season. Jack clearly has a lot of baggage when it comes to his brother's death, so it's possible that the reason it was even more tragic was because Nicky dies in an attempt to save Jack.

Toby will have fertility issues.

We caught glimpses of a future Toby holed up in bed and exhibiting signs of depression. We already know that Toby has a history of depression, since his parents mention that he had spiraled out of control after his first marriage ended. While it's easy to assume he's going through another bout of depression, what's not clear is why. Perhaps he's upset because the couple can't have kids, but maybe he's upset because he finds out that he's the cause.

We will meet Deja's biological father.

For season three, we predict we get to meet Deja's dad. The possibility has been alluded to [4] already by the show's producer Elizabeth Berger in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. She stated that while Deja currently has almost no relationship with her father, that may change. Does Deja's father decide he wants a relationship with her after all? Does he attempt to get custody rights of her? We think there's definitely some future drama to be had from this possible character.

Kevin and Randall will open Big 3 Homes.

We're already getting emotional thinking about the possibility that Kevin and Randall will carry out Jack's dream of opening Big 3 Homes. Randall already bought an apartment building that he completely overhauls, and Kevin steps in to help his brother get the job done. Given how much the brothers enjoy working together, it seems unlikely that this project is an isolated incident. What we're unsure of, however, is whether or not Kate will be involved.

Beth and Randall will get divorced.

We really hope season three does not break our hearts into a million pieces with a Beth and Randall breakup. However, in the scene that shows a future Tess meeting with Randall, Randall's left hand is hidden. As a result, viewers were not able to see whether or not Randall was wearing his wedding ring. Fans are also speculating that this could mean that Beth has died, but we're not putting our weight behind that theory yet.
