Meredith Grey

Meredith has been maintaining a laser focus on her career. Her innovative surgery on Megan Hunt leads to her receiving the prestigious Harper Avery award. After her triumphant win, the general surgeon goes straight back to work on a minilivers project. She and Jackson also spearhead the Catherine Fox Foundation to continue the legacy of the Harper Avery Foundation, while supporting the women harmed by its namesake.

Miranda Bailey

In season 14, Miranda battles a series of personal challenges while helming Grey Sloan as the chief. In an emotionally harrowing episode, the chief checks herself into Seattle Presbyterian and rightfully confirms her suspicions about having a heart attack. Her health scare prompts her to encourage Ben to do what he loves: pursue his firefighting career.

After her surgery, Dr. Bailey continues her duties as chief and works hard on a colonoscopy device called the Trailblazer. Her side project ends up being a success, so Miranda decides to take a sabbatical after receiving a generous check for it. The last time we see her, she talks to Teddy Altman about opening up an interim chief position.

Alex Karev

Alex and Jo are going strong, though their relationship hasn't been without challenges along the way. The couple finds themselves at odds when discussing Jo's choices after her residency at Grey Sloan. Jo later proposes to Alex, realising she doesn't want to go anywhere without him. When they plan their wedding, they hit another problem: Alex discovers that his mother, who is schizophrenic, hasn't been cashing her checks, so he pays her a visit in Iowa and learns she has returned to her job as a librarian.

Even Alex's wedding day has its share of drama, including a wrong invitation address and a wedding planner who goes into anaphylactic shock. Before the ceremony, Alex and Jo sneak off into an abandoned barn to hook up, only to get locked in — with a corpse. Eventually, DeLuca busts them out, and Meredith officiates Alex's wedding on their ferry ride back home.

Richard Webber

Richard is getting into his groove as the director of Grey Sloan's residency program, imparting his wisdom to the hapless new interns. His relationship with Maggie also grows stronger by the day, as they attend family dinners and dance lessons together. Still, Richard has faced some major troubles, including the loss of his AA sponsor Ollie and Dr. Vikram Roy's threat of a lawsuit against the hospital.

Owen Hunt

A whirlwind of major life changes hit Owen lately. The trauma surgeon learns that his sister Megan is still alive, and throughout her stay at Grey Sloan, she makes him realise that he and Amelia are not working out. Though Owen and Amelia split up, they have occasional hookups.

The trauma doctor later flies to Germany and shares a passionate encounter with Teddy. The moment, however, is short-lived, and ends with the cardiothoracic surgeon asking him to leave upon learning that he had been with Amelia shortly before. Owen's relationship with Amelia continues when he takes in a foster child named Leo. Amelia lends him a helping hand as she herself takes in Betty, Leo's teenage birth mother.

Jackson Avery

Following his eminent grandfather's passing, Jackson inherits a quarter of a billion dollars. At first, he uses this money to fund a surgical innovation contest. After discovering Harper Avery's sexual harassment cases, he and Meredith launch the Catherine Fox Foundation to replace his grandfather's legacy and set things right for the survivors of his grandfather's abuse. Jackson then spends most of his inheritance organising this, with Maggie supporting him every step of the way as they navigate their new relationship together.

Amelia Shepherd

Amelia returns to work soon after undergoing the removal of her grapefruit-sized brain tumor. Following her surgery, she and Owen separate, although they still remain friendly. She later reaches out to Betty, the teenage mother of Owen's foster son, to help her with her drug addiction.

Jo Karev

Jo experiences major changes in both her personal and professional life last season. She eventually confronts her abusive estranged husband Paul, who later ends up brain dead following an unprecedented fit of rage. While figuring out where she should go after her residency, she proposes to Alex. Though her wedding ceremony goes awry, Jo marries Alex with Meredith officiating their wedding.

In terms of her professional affairs, Jo, now chief resident, must choose between different career opportunities, including a general surgery attending position at Grey Sloan and a minimally invasive surgery fellowship at MassGen.

Maggie Pierce

Maggie has been saving a lot of cherished lives lately, including Dr. Bailey's and April Kepner's. When she's not caring for her friends, the heart surgeon has been working on her relationships lately, especially with Jackson and her biological father Richard.

Andrew DeLuca

We last see Andrew mourning the departure of his girlfriend, Dr. Sam Bello, who leaves Grey Sloan to work with Cristina in Switzerland in order to avoid deportation. During Jo and Alex's wedding, he gets completely drunk and kisses Meredith, who, while flattered, rejects his advances. Soon after, Andrew saves the day by helping Alex and Jo get out of the locked barn where they hooked up.

Teddy Altman

Teddy shares a complicated relationship with Owen. In season 14, they kiss when she's visiting Megan, and later share a night together in Germany after Owen's divorce. In the season 14 finale, Teddy makes a surprise return to Grey Sloan. After a successful ad hoc surgery with the cardiothoracic surgeon, Dr. Bailey decides to take a sabbatical and talks with Teddy about an interim chief opening. And here's the biggest shocker: Teddy confirms that she is expecting after her patient asks her.
