Wondering What Happened to the Plane on Manifest? Here Are 3 Possible Theories

Based on the way the aeroplane spontaneously exploded in the season one premiere, it seems there is another force at work here. Perhaps the reason the passengers have no recollection of the last five years is because they were abducted by aliens during their flight and their memories were wiped clean afterward. In fact, they might not even be themselves at all. What if the passengers are actually serving as hosts for aliens in an attempt to take over Earth?

The show leans on some Biblical elements in the first episode. The episode starts off with Michaela Stone talking to her mother about Romans verse 8:28, which states, "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose." Not only does the number 828 continue to appear throughout the episode, but Michaela starts to wonder if the reason for the voices in her head is because she is a "called one." Perhaps the turbulence on the flight was actually worse than it appeared and the passengers were saved by angels to fulfil a greater calling on Earth.

There are definitely some time-travelling elements at play here. While that would certainly explain why they didn't age a day, it could also explain their newfound abilities. So far, it seems like their voices and visions are prophetic. Perhaps when they travelled in time, it also gave them the ability to see into the future.
