What Is Netflix's Safe TV Show About?

Dexter's Michael C. Hall Returns to TV With a Twisty New Mystery Series on Netflix

Michael C. Hall made his mark on TV for years in Showtime's serial killer thriller Dexter, and now he's returning to the small screen in a starring role via Netflix's Safe.

Hall stars in the mystery series as Tom, a harried British surgeon and widow who's struggling to create a sense of normalcy for his two daughters as they all cope with the death of their mother. When his oldest daughter, Jenny (Coronation Street's Amy James-Kelly), disappears from a wild party held in their gated community, a distressed Tom goes on a mission to find her. Naturally his quest to discover Jenny's whereabouts involves unearthing a few secrets that the people closest to him would've preferred stay under wraps, forever changing the lives of everyone in the neighbourhood.

The show marks Hall's second collaboration with Netflix, the first being his guest-starring role as President John F. Kennedy in season two of The Crown. Until that Dexter reboot comes to fruition (if ever), Safe seems like a pretty great way to see Hall do his thing, especially since "his thing" now involves doing a British accent. Hopefully there will be less saran wrap involved this time around, but we'll just have to wait until the series premieres on May 10 to find out.
