I have a love/hate relationship with Game of Thrones theories, in the sense that I hate that I love them so much. I basically have a part-time job in reading fan theories, except the only payment I receive is that each and every theory I read has to be right. Whereas normal people take Instagram breaks, I use that time to check out Reddit or obscure Game of Thrones blogs. That's why when I read a theory stating that at the end of the series, seven different people will rule each of the seven kingdoms, my entire day was over.

The Theory

Reddit user Doobla98 [1] is not the first person to propose the idea that at the end of the series, the seven kingdoms will be ruled by incarnations or symbols of a face of the seven, but they're the first one who really fleshed out the notion [2] in a way that I fully understand. The seven Gods are The Father, The Mother, The Maiden, The Crone, The Warrior, The Smith, and The Stranger. Basically the seven Gods are seven faces of the same God, but they represent a different part of life.

To make this theory digestible, Doobla98 broke down the descriptions of each God and what they represent.

1. The Father represents divine justice and judges the souls of the dead.
2. The Mother represents mercy, peace, fertility, and childbirth. She is the ultimate symbol of "the strength of women."
3. The Maiden represents purity, innocence, love, and beauty.
4. The Crone represents wisdom and foresight.
5. The Warrior represents strength and courage in battle.
6. The Smith represents creation and craftsmanship.
7. The Stranger represents death and the unknown.

These seven entities will rule the seven Kingdoms: The North, The Iron Islands, The Vale, The Westerlands, The Stormlands, The Reach, and finally Dorne. The kingdoms would reflect the relationship between the Gods, being that all of them are independently ruled, but they operate as one unit. The description of each of the Gods actually lines up with the characters.

Now, throughout the series, Daenerys talks a lot about wanting to "break the wheel." In the Game of Thrones universe, the wheel is a metaphor for how the different families have taken control of Westeros. As Dany puts it, "They're all just spokes on a wheel . . . This one's on top, then that one's on top, and on and on it spins." As she tells Tyrion, she doesn't want to stop the wheel, she wants to break it. While this may not be how she envisions crushing the wheel, this is how it could break.

Who Are the Seven Gods?

According to this theory, the Father is Samwell Tarly, because he is the most father-like figure, although in the beginning of the series he is portrayed as weak and timid. But if you think about it, the times where he has been the most courageous, brave, and bold were when his "family" was in danger. He would oversee The Reach. When the Tyrells were killed off, The Reach was promised to the Tarly family. But since all of the Tarlys are dead, except Samwell Tarly, he would oversee that area. Fingers crossed with Gilly and her adorable child.

The Mother is Daenerys, because she is the mother of dragons. The Dothraki, Bloodriders, and freed slaves all call her mother. She loves all of her followers like they are her children, which is why the Reddit user thinks that Daenerys would reside over Dorne. The Martells describe the Dornish people as unbowed, unbent, and unbroken. That describes both Dany and the Dothraki people. Dorne was the only kingdom that wasn't defeated by dragons, and the un-andal culture would be great for the Dothraki people.

The Maiden is Sansa Stark, because throughout the series she has been "the beautiful maiden" and she would rule The Vale. Robyn Aryn currently rules The Vale, but seriously, Sansa is the one who's in charge. The Vale rode North for Sansa's aid. That in itself is super poetic.

The Crone would be Tyrion, because he is the wisest in the series (also in my mind the funniest) and he would rule The Westerlands. Cersei is definitely going to die, because every prophecy the Witch stated has come true. So if she dies, the Westerlands would go to Tyrion, because I just feel like Jaime is so over everything that is going on. In my mind he's either going to die, or just be of aid to Tyrion. Now this is up for a bit of debate, because The Crone is represented by an old woman carrying a lantern, but this role was made for Tyrion. He's undoubtedly the most underrated character in GOT.

The Warrior is Jon Snow, because he is the noblest person. Now I know that might be up for argument, and I'm not just saying he's the noblest because Kit Harrington's eyes could pierce your soul [3], but Jon Snow's character is the greatest warrior to have lived. In the GOT world at least. He would obviously rule The North, because he's "the king in the North."

The Smith is obviously Gendry. He's the only one who is trained as a Smith. What's interesting is that people forget that Gendry is actually a Baratheon, so he would be the leader of The Stormlands. Since all of the legitimized Baratheons are dead, Gendry rightfully is owed that land.

This is where things get a bit tricky. Doobla98 believes that The Stranger would be Theon Greyjoy because this is the God of death. Theon has been close to death more times than I can count, but I feel like this has to be Arya. Arya is no one, and The Stranger just fits Arya so well. But with the Iron Islands being the last kingdom, this would have to go to Theon, right? So there are two possibilities. Arya will not really lead a kingdom, or one of the other Gods could be Arya.

Is This Enough to Break the Wheel?

There are some gaping holes in this theory, the major being that the directors said the show will not end with a happy ending. In my mind, this type of setup would be the most clear cut, happy ending out there. The wheel would be broken, the kingdoms would be ruled in a shared government, and the characters would find a way to coexist with one another. But with the threat of the White Walkers, and some of our favourite characters are bound to die in the final season, I honestly don't know what to think. The only thing I can do is hope that the show won't fall into the cursed series categories and have a finale that just doesn't make sense. I'm looking at you, Lost and The Sopranos.
