Netflix Announced the Premiere Date For Narcos: Mexico, and We're Already Sweating

21/09/2018 - 08:25 PM

Just the other day, we had this sudden feeling of complete calm. It was then that we realised something was missing: the sweat-inducing stress of a new Narcos [1] season. While it's not exactly the best form of self-care, we are in serious withdrawal when it comes to the addicting Netflix original series that details the intense drama of the Colombian drug cartel. In the first three seasons, the show focuses exclusively on the war on drugs in Colombia, but the way the show wraps up the third season gives us a sneak peak of a potential plotline in Mexico.

Over the Summer, Netflix released the first trailer [2] for Narcos: Mexico. While technically it's the fourth season of the show, Netflix has announced that it is relaunching the show under this new name, so we guess it's more like the first season of the spinoff series. There have been a few details [3] available about where the show is headed, and we've got to admit we're pretty excited about the new angle. The show will look back to the Mexican roots of the drug trafficking world and focus in on the Guadalajara Cartel in the 1970s and '80s.

While Pedro Pascal will no longer star in the series, Netflix has kept us interested by announcing that Michael Peña (End of Watch) and Diego Luna (Rogue One) star in this season. Luna plays Miguel Ángel Félix Gallardo, or "El Padrino," one of the biggest narcos in Mexico's history. And Peña plays Enrique "Kiki" Camarena, the DEA agent tasked with taking down El Padrino.

Netflix has announced Narcos: Mexico will premiere this Fall, so go ahead and mark Nov. 16 in your calendar. Until then, you can check out the other best crime shows on Netflix [4].
