Where Is Bachelor Arie From?

Just a Friendly Reminder That Bachelor Arie Speaks Dutch

Arie Luyendyk Jr. is no stranger to criticism during season 22 of The Bachelor. He's had to explain himself and face haters online who say he's boring — but that's far from true! For one, he's a race car driver, and a damn good one. A lesser-known fact, however, is that he speaks another language and wasn't born in the United States.

Arie speaks Dutch as he was born in the Netherlands, which is in northern Europe, east of the United Kingdom. He moved to the U.S. at 3 years old with his family for his father's race car-driving career, according to Today. We've heard Arie break out his other language before when he was introducing Emily Maynard to his parents on season eight of The Bachelorette, and now that his family is back on camera for The Bachelor's finale, you may have been curious.

Arie currently resides in Scottsdale, AZ, but he still goes back to the homeland to visit!
