Here's What the Cast of The Big Bang Theory Is Doing Next, Because We Just Really Miss Them

26/06/2019 - 10:15 PM

As reluctant as we are to accept it, The Big Bang Theory [1] finally reached its conclusion [2] after an epic 12-season run [3] and 279 episodes, and we can't imagine we're the only ones already missing our favourite California Institute of Technology physicists. Luckily, these actors don't plan on leaving Hollywood behind anytime soon. We have the scoop on where you can see TBBT actors following the end of the beloved CBS series, and though they won't be together, we're just happy to have them in our lives at all. Also, to fill the Big Bang-size hole in your heart, be sure to also check out CBS's new Fall shows [4], as well as other series that may remind you of TBBT [5].

Kaley Cuoco

Kaley Cuoco, who plays sexy girl-next-door Penny, will be taking her talents to voice acting after the conclusion of The Big Bang Theory, voicing Harley Quinn and serving as executive producer [6] in the animated series of the same name, debuting on the DC Universe streaming service in October. She'll also star in and produce the television adaptation of Chris Bohjalian's thriller novel [7] The Flight Attendant, which tells the story of a woman who wakes up next to a dead body with no idea how she — or the body — got there.

As far as seeing Penny in a spin-off series, Cuoco revealed to Entertainment Tonight that the only person she would say yes to would be TBBT series creator and executive producer Chuck Lorre [8]. " . . . if Chuck came and said let's do it, I'd say yes," she explained. "Other than that, I don't see a spin-off for myself. But I don't like to say no to Chuck. So if he wanted it, I'm in."

Johnny Galecki

Johnny Galecki — aka lovably nerdy physicist Leonard Hofstadter — will continue playing David on the Roseanne spinoff, The Conners, which will return for its second season this Fall [9], though most likely as a recurring character, as he's not quite ready to become a series regular [10] on any TV show just yet. "I certainly hope to visit as much as possible," he said. "That's kind of my second home . . . I still have a bit of a high school crush on that character."

Galecki is also executive producing a new CBS series [11], Bait & Tackle, alongside Stuck In the Middle co-creator and executive producer Linda Figueiredo and musician Brian Kelley. The series revolves around three adult siblings who must team up to run their family's bait and tackle shop after their father retires.

Jim Parsons

Jim Parsons, who plays the scene-stealing physicist Sheldon Cooper, will continue as executive producer and narrator of TBBT prequel, Young Sheldon, which CBS has already renewed for a third and fourth season [12], with the third season set to premiere this Fall.

The actor also plans on reprising a part he played on Broadway [13] in 2018, with the Netflix adaptation of the drama The Boys in the Band — to be executive produced by Ryan Murphy — slated to start filming in July. As well, Parsons will star in Spoiler Alert: The Hero Dies [14], a movie adaptation of TV critic Michael Ausiello's memoir about the cancer diagnosis of his longtime partner, Kit.

Simon Helberg

Simon Helberg, who portrays the hilarious aerospace engineer Howard Wolowitz, hasn't made many plans for himself following the end of TBBT yet, though after executive producing the EPIX four-episode docuseries Elvis Goes There [15] (which follows the adventures of renowned journalist Elvis Mitchell), it's possible he'll act as executive producer for more projects in the future.

Kunal Nayyar

While Kunal Nayyar — aka astrophysicist Raj Koothrappali — has the family-friendly movie Think Like a Dog [16] in post-production and Trolls World Tour [17] (in which he voices Guy Diamond) in pre-production, his biggest plan post-TBBT is getting in some much-needed family time [18]. "I'm going to go to India, spend more time with my parents," he told Parade in late April. "I left my country when I was 18, so it's important for me to go home and spend time with mom and dad, so that's the main focus right now."

Melissa Rauch

Following the end of TBBT, Melissa Rauch (who plays the adorably squeaky-voiced microbiologist Bernadette Rostenkowski-Wolowitz) will make an exciting returning to the big screen [19] in the Steven Soderbergh Panama Papers drama The Laundromat, which stars Meryl Streep [20] and Gary Oldman. The film is currently in post-production and is due to premiere on Netflix sometime this year [21]. The flick will follow a group of journalists who discovered a series of files that link the world's most powerful political figures to secret banking accounts to avoid taxes.

Mayim Bialik

Real-life neuroscientist Mayim Bialik — aka eccentric neurobiologist Amy Farrah Fowler — will continue to run her online lifestyle publication, Grok Nation [22], which covers everything from news, to style, to health. According to IMDb, she will also reprise her voice character role of "The B.O.O.T.H." in the upcoming sci-fi comedy, The Inspector Chronicles [23], which is based on the British TV show staple, Doctor Who.

As she's written four books [24] in the past on topics covering everything from parenting and politics, it also seems likely that Bialik will eventually pen a fifth novel as well.
