Where to See The Matrix in Movie Theatres in August 2019?

Red Pill or Blue? Decide When The Matrix Returns to Theatres This Month For 1 Week Only

The Matrix officially turned 20 years old earlier this year, and in celebration of its milestone anniversary, the sci-fi classic will be brought back to the big screen this month for one week only. According to a release, for the first time ever, viewers will be able to enjoy the film in Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos at over 135 theatres around the US beginning on Aug. 30.

"Bringing The Matrix to life in Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos pays homage to the masterpiece that the Wachowskis created 20 years ago," Doug Darrow, senior vice president of Dolby Laboratories' Cinema Business Group, said in a statement. "Movie lovers will be able to see and experience unforgettable sequences like bullets flying in slow motion with the utmost detail — transforming one of the most iconic sci-fi films of this generation." Dolby Vision is a format that offers viewers a brighter and more-detailed picture, while Dolby Atmos offers high-quality sound that makes it feel as if you're in the movie.

The Oscar-winning film, which stars Keanu Reeves and Laurence Fishburne, follows a computer hacker named Neo who learns that the futuristic world he lives in is actually just a simulation called the Matrix and the people in it are at war with robots. It officially returns to theatres on Aug. 30, and tickets are now available for purchase online at amctheatres.com or in person at Dolby Cinema at AMC locations.
