These 6 Oscar Nominees Have Already Taken Home the Gold

13/02/2019 - 11:51 PM

We can't wait to see which of this year's talented Oscar nominees [1] go home with a brand-new statuette. Thanks to an eclectic crop of nominated films [2], the nominees this year are a blend of longtime veterans [3] and fresh faces [4], making for an incredibly exciting award season. While Hollywood's biggest names and newcomers get ready for the big night, several of the 2019 nominees are already pros at the whole Oscars cycle — because they've been here before. Before you fill out your Oscar ballot [5] this year, take a look at which nominees have already made at least one Oscars acceptance speech in years past!

Mahershala Ali

Ali is set for a repeat performance this year, having taken home the best supporting actor trophy in 2017 for his role in Moonlight. He's nominated in the same category again this year for Green Book, the controversial film [6] based on a true story.

Sam Rockwell

Rockwell is the most recent winner among this year's crop of nominees. Just last year, he won best supporting actor [7] for Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. He's scored a back-to-back nomination in the category this year for his role as former President George W. Bush in Vice.

Emma Stone

Stone's best actress win in 2017 for La La Land marked the first win of her career and her second Oscar nomination [8]. This year, she's nominated in the supporting actress category for the period comedy The Favourite.

Alfonso Cuarón

Cuarón, nominated this year for directing Netflix's first Oscar contender [9], Roma, is a previous winner in the best director category for 2014's Gravity. He also won the best editing award the same year.

Christian Bale

Including this year's best actor nomination for playing former Vice President Dick Cheney [10] in Vice, Bale has four Oscar nominations — two for best actor and two for best supporting actor. It was his first nomination, back in 2011 for his supporting turn in The Fighter, that won him the trophy.

Rachel Weisz

Weisz has had a 13-year gap between Oscar nominations. She won best supporting actress back in 2006 for The Constant Gardener but hasn't been nominated again since she received a nomination (in the same category) this year for The Favourite [11].
