Even if you're not a fan of Broadway musicals in general, there's a pretty good chance you've heard of Wicked [1]. The musical, which follows the friendship of two women in Oz [2] before they gain fame as the "wicked" and "good" witches of the land, is about to celebrate its 15th anniversary on Broadway — a milestone that most shows will never reach. The production is teaming up with NBC to air a landmark concert to celebrate. On Oct. 29 [3], stars from the theatre and music industries will come together to celebrate Wicked and perform some of the show's iconic songs. So who can we expect to see throughout the evening? The Current Broadway Cast
Just like the cast at the time played a big role in the 10th anniversary celebrations (pictured here), the current Broadway cast of Wicked will perform at least one song on the broadcast. The cast includes Jessica Vosk as Elphaba, Amanda Jane Cooper as Glinda, Ryan McCartan as Fiyero, and Kevin Chamberlin as the Wizard. Both Vosk and Cooper are Wicked vets, having led the national tour before joining the Broadway company, and McCartan, though a newcomer to Wicked, may be a familiar face to TV fans from his time on Liv and Maddie and Fox's The Rocky Horror Picture Show
Ariana Grande
Ariana Grande [4] is also scheduled to perform. Grande has long been a big-name fan of Wicked and has more theatre chops than casual fans might know! She appeared as Penny in 2016's Hairspray Live and has actually performed on Broadway before, as a teenager in 2008's musical 13.
Pentatonix
As with many NBC specials, the group Pentatonix [5] will be performing at the concert. One of the members has some Broadway credit behind her name, too! Kirstin Maldonado did a stint in the musical comedy Kinky Boots earlier in 2018.
Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth
The most exciting news, though, is that the original Elphaba and Glinda will reunite [6] for the concert! In 2003, Idina Menzel [7] and Kristin Chenoweth [8] were years away from being a Disney queen [9] and an Emmy winner; they were just the young Broadway stars at the centre of the newest hit. They haven't really crossed paths much after leaving Wicked, so this reunion has been a long time coming.
