Who Does Keegan-Michael Key Play in The Lion King Reboot?

Keegan-Michael Key's Impression of the Craziest Hyena in The Lion King Has Me Cackling

Keegan-Michael Key is primarily known for his comedic talents in his long-running sketch show Key and Peele (alongside frequent collaborator Jordan Peele), but now it seems he's building up a reputation as Disney's voice of choice. The 48-year-old actor was tapped to play characters in both of the studio's biggest Summer releasesToy Story 4 and The Lion King — and he couldn't help but gush about the latter while recently sitting down with Jimmy Fallon.

Key is playing one of Scar's hyenas, Kamari, and told Fallon that he was just happy he got to use his regular voice while recording the film. "[The Lion King director] Jon Favreau wanted us to bring as much of ourselves to it as possible," he said of his role, likening the character he's playing to Cheech Marin's Banzai in the 1994 original. And then, because we must've done something exceptionally good in a past life, Key broke out his best impression of Ed, the craziest hyena from the first film who essentially babbles through the movie.

Watch Key's hilarious impression above, and then check out the latest trailer for The Lion King, which looks so real it might as well be a National Geographic special.
