On The Bachelor [1]'s first group date this season, Elyse Delbom won over fans (and Colton!) by sharing a story about her age. Colton gave her the group date rose — so why is Elyse saying she "can't accept a proposal" in the previews for future Bachelor episodes?
At the time of season 23's filming [2], Elyse was 31 [3], putting her on the older end of the contestants' age spectrum [4]. So when the ladies were asked to describe a "first" on their group date, she used her age to her advantage, admitting that The Bachelor [5] marked the first time she was dating a younger man. (Colton is 26 during this season.) Colton was so impressed with her honesty and willingness to address her age head-on that he decided to keep her on for another week.
It seems like Colton is pretty intrigued with Elyse, or at least he was at first. So it's a bit baffling to see she will be having second thoughts in the trailer for the show's upcoming episodes. Then again, a lot can change in a short amount of time on The Bachelor.
Whatever's in store for Elyse and Colton's future, though, Elyse seems like a really unique person, and she's got a lot going for her. Here are a few things fans should know about the Arizona-based makeup artist.
She's really good at her job.
Elyse's Instagram account [7] is full of beauty looks she's created for her clients. Bachelor fans who happen to be based in Arizona might love booking her services — she definitely knows how to make her clients look super glam.
Elyse has never left the United States.
Elyse's official contestant bio [8] notes that she's never left the country. If she does make it through a bit more time on The Bachelor [9], though, that could definitely change. The show is known for taking contestants on elaborate trips across the world.
Friends are everything to her.
In her Bachelor contestant bio [10], Elyse lists "spending time with friends over good food and wine" as one of her favourite hobbies. The show may foster competition, but it looks like she's pretty chill in her everyday life.
Elyse is close with her family, too.
Although many of her Instagram photos are about her work as a makeup artist, there are a good number of posts about her family, too. It looks like she's close with her parents [11] and extended family, and she loves spending time with them whenever she can. Sadly, Elyse lost her sister to cancer [12], but it looks like her memory will always live on with Elyse and her family.
She's a bookworm at heart.
Elyse noted in her contestant bio that she likes reading. And in one Instagram post [13], she shared an F. Scott Fitzgerald quote, noting in the caption that she writes down quotes and passages she enjoys.
She enjoys photography in her spare time.
She's a professional makeup artist, but it looks like Elyse is also a photographer, at least some of the time.
She loves hiking.
Elyse may not have left the country, but she's definitely making the most of all that the United States has to offer.
